FCC12 Meeting Minutes

September 13, 2007

 

The meeting was called to order at about 3pm by Chairperson Pearson.  In attendance were:

Members – Phil Pearson and Ray Sylvestre

Guests – Anita Martin, Christina Pinto, Joan Mannix – ARC Volusia, Kelly Johanessen – UCP, Rosemary Revoir, Tom Brander, Shawna Dann – Secretary FCC12, Jennifer Ortiz – new secretary for FCC12, Susan Tanner and Sandra Mills – APD liason.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

The next FCC District 12 mail out will be in September 2007.  A sample of the newsletter was provided to members and guests present.  After reviewing the newsletter guests suggested listing a reference of “continued on page …” with each article so that the newsletter would be easier to read.  A mailing will also go out in December 2007.

 

FCC12 is making recommendations to the local public libraries to purchase videotapes regarding the developmentally disabled.  Chairperson Pearson would like recommendations from members and guests as to what books/videotapes to purchase.

 

Chairperson Pearson has researched the cost of a speakerphone per the suggestion from Ed DeBardeleben.  The purchase of a speakerphone would allow members and guests that could not be physically present at a meeting to participate via teleconference.  The ballpark cost of a speakerphone is $500.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Chairperson Pearson wants to have a list of recommended providers on the FCC12 website.  He wants parents to email him the names of providers that they like so he can post it on the website.  A guest suggested that he include this request in the next mailing.

 

Chairperson provided members and guests with a copy of the FCC12 budget.  It shows that there will be an approximate surplus of $2,785.28 at the end of the fiscal year.

 

The meeting was closed at about 4:45pm.
