ROLL CALL AND INTRODUCTIONS:
The meeting was called to order at 3:10 PM.
Roll call established a quorum.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from
the meeting on February 8th, 2007 meeting were reviewed and
discussed by members and guests present.
Member Pearson made a motion to accept the minutes of the January 11th,
2007 meeting. Motion carried.
III. OLD BUSINESS:
At last month’s
meeting the Council approved transferring $500 to FCCF. This action has been completed. Also, at last month’s meeting members and
guests discussed the purchase of videotapes from Stanfield that could be
donated to one or more of the public libraries in Area 12. After some discussion last month it was
decided that loaning the tapes instead of donating might be a better choice. After much thought chairperson Pearson still
thinks it would be better to donate the tapes for several reasons. One such reason is so that the Council would
not have to keep track of the tapes in an inventory list. Chairperson Pearson asked Leslie if it is
okay for the Council to donate items.
Leslie replied that she would ask Ed DeBardeleben at the APD.
Chairperson Pearson
stated that he would like to do a mail out to the community on a quarterly
basis. He would also like to meet at a
location other than Easter Seals once a quarter in the northeast, northwest,
southeast, and southwest regions of Area 12.
This quarter the meeting on April 12th will be held at the
City Hall building in Bunnell at 7PM. In
August the meeting will be held at ARC in Deland.
Chairperson Pearson
asked Leslie from the APD if the Easter Seals bill had been paid. She informed him that it had. Secretary Dann spoke to Easter Seals CFO Joe
Lennartz before today’s meeting and he reported that the bill had not been paid. Leslie stated that she would determine the
status of the payment and call Secretary Dann with the information.
IV. APD UPDATE:
Leslie reported
that there are 400 people locally on the waiting list. Twenty-one people are on the Consumer
Directed Care + Program. Generally 20
referrals are received per month. Nearly
half of those referred are eligible. For
this current fiscal year no more people will be transitioned off the waiting
list. However, crisis procedures will be
used for critical care. General revenue
money is earmarked for crisis situations.
She also stated
that the list of tests that the APD can accept when determining whether an
applicant qualifies for services has changed.
Member and guests discussed that the tests performed by the schools may
not be accepted by the APD. This can
present a problem because it may make an individual ineligible for
services. Once the school has
administered a test they will not administer a different test even if APD or
the parent requests it. Therefore, if
the parent wanted another test to be administered it would be at the parents’
expense. Most parents can not afford
this expense.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
